Getting into William and Mary for me was veryJun 10 2005History/Histories (art history/etc.)
Getting into William and Mary for me was very difficult. I had a 1490 on my SAT's and a 34 on my ACT and that alone did not suffice for entry into a College where most applicants have just as good scores. The essays and supplement requirements are a very useful way to convince the admissions team of your individuality not just a super clever robot, so make good use of it if you don't necessarily have the grades to back yourself up. Needless to say W&M ranks one of the highest Unis in the nation and so they will be looking for those who go the extra mile in sports activites etc.

I was very uncertain when I applied to colleges,May 08 2005Sociology
I was very uncertain when I applied to colleges, so I just applied a bunch of places, and was lucky enough to get into them all before really choosing. Having worked in the admissions office here, though, I would say that if you're dying to come to William & Mary, don't be afraid to contact the admissions office and ask for information about how to apply and what the admissions procedures here are.
SAT: 1490 Female
Hard work and not slacking are really important, notApr 22 2005Undecided
Hard work and not slacking are really important, not only if you want to get in to W&M, but if you want to succeed at W&M. Your grades will not be handed to you. Make sure you get good recommendation letters. The one most powerful item that helped me get in was a letter from my high school soccer coach, who had seen me interact with both upperclassmen and freshmen on the team.

Showing the administration that you try to challenge yourself in different areas is key! Go out and step outside of your comfort zone and learn about yourself then report back!
